VADODARA: Vadodara may have its own innovation council — the first of its kind in the country. The idea of setting up Vadodara Innovation Council was mooted by technocrat Sam Pitroda, who heads the National Innovation Council (NIC) and is advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on public information infrastructure and innovations.
Pitroda, who was in the city on Saturday to deliver a lecture on the topic of `Creating a curious, questioning and innovative society` organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) suggested Vadodara take a lead in setting up such a council.
As NIC chief, Pitroda has written to all state governments to set up state innovation councils which can work as extended arms of NIC. Similarly, sector-specific councils are also being promoted so that each sector can suggest how best innovations can be used in bringing about a change. |
