Speaking at a gathering at Science Day celebrations, organised by Manipal University here he asserted that India was going to a the super economic power. However the path should be led by youth force.Stating that science is nothing but joy to be enjoyed, Mr Kakodkar said,'' doing science gives joy that not only fulfills our lives, it is a joy that fulfills the life of larger number of people.''Science is also a tool to create happiness. It also allows us to generate wealth and makes one powerful.

 

''Today we are in a knowledge economy. Knowledge in terms of science and technology has important elements in relative strengths in terms of country and society,'' he added.

He said career in science offers more options. Things have started happening much faster than before. The process will be much faster in the next ten years.''The question is that how many of the younger generation wish to be part of the happening. Nano science technology was the outcome of dew and lotus leaf phenomenon. Civilisation has changed. We have made quantum jump in our understanding and consequently in our technology,'' he said.
