AHMEDABAD: After unearthing innovations from the remote nooks and corners of the country, Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI) will now recognize students for their outstanding project works aimed at bringing social change in the area of technology like engineering and pharmacy.
The city-based NGO, led by Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) professor Anil Gupta, has instituted an award titled 'SRISTI YUVA Yantriki Award' for technology students in the country this year. The selected students will get the awards at the hands of former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam.
"The idea is to recognize and encourage the works of the young minds in the area of social technology. Our country is the youngest nation in the world, and this is the way to solve the issues in the country," said Gupta.
The award will be given to selected students' projects which address important social, environmental or technological problems faced by the marginalized section of society or industries of micro and small enterprises. Projects that have a potential to address the pressing needs of the country can also apply for the awards.
Engineering students who completed their projects in or after 2009 can submit them for the award. The projects can also be submitted by faculties of the students on their behalf.
Entries will be accepted till October 30, and the short listed candidates will be declared by Nov 4. Tthe awards will be given away at IIM-A on November 11. |
