Now days in power system instrument transformer used into measure comparatively high values of current or voltage with its two types current transformer & capacitive voltage transformer. Current transformer is used whever the current of a circuit exceeds the safe current of the measuring instrument. Normally secondary circuit is earthed so that instrument transformer potential never rises beyond secondary voltage. However there are many chances of failure of instrument like moisture in primary insulation etc. So here condition monitoring used for regularly checking instrument. And so investigation based on failure of transformer due to different reasons and to overcome them. This investigation is helpful to overcome commercial losses.
