In the current situation power crisis is on the rise. We need an energy efficient as well as an useful system that serves our purpose. So we have come up with a solution that makes our day to day energy expenses lesser and also meets the power demands. In this project we take up the idea of reducing the energy consumed directly from the main supply by making a hybrid fan and lights that produce energy. This energy produced drastically reduces the power consumption in a residential or a commercial building. In this project the first section deals with a model that combines a dynamo coupled to a ceiling fan producing 20v where the mechanical rotation of fan is converted to voltage, and is used to charge a 12 v battery. Also a supply of 12 v for the mains through an adaptor is also provided,in case the fan is not running. The battery illuminates the 18W tubelight, thus saving approximately 25Units per month. This is the analysis for integrating one fan to a light. Also by fitting solar panels alongside tubelight mobile charging can also be performed efficiently in this system.

In this project the first part proposes a model that combines a generator(Dynamo) to the ceiling fan which produces about 20v .This voltage is given to a relay cutoff circuit. This circuit is also provided with a 12dc from main supply. In case the tube light is switched on without the ceiling fan the battery gets charged automatically through main 12v supply. This voltage is directly given to a charge controller that charges a 12v (1-7A) battery. The energy stored in the battery is used to run a tubelight which is designed to run on 12v dc directly.

Watts consumed by a household tubelight is about 35w.If this 35W tubelight is replaced by a 12v tubelight that runs on a dynamo. On a continous running for a month the savings would be about 25 units.

In the second part  we combine a photovoltaic cell to the tubelight that produces 3v 1A.The solar panel is given light with violet filter which simulates sun rays. This is stored in a 3v battery and stepped to 5v for powering a usb hub which can be used to charge a mobile phone or can be used to power any usb powered electronic equipments.

A typical mobile charger consumes about 10w per hour. This power can be provided with a solar energy.

By the combination of photovoltaic cell with tubelight we get power to charge our electronic equipments at all times of the day.

Moreover the light absorbed by a 3v solar panel does not affect the overall light intensity of the tubelight.

By the integration of the two system also acts as an ups when main power supply is not available. This integration can be done to any number of fans and lights in a building so the overall power consumption can be reduced.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:

1.     12V 2A Dynamo

2.     12V 3A battery

3.     3V solar panel

4.     3V battery

5.     Usb hub

6.     Battery charging circuit with auto cutoff

7.     12V tubelight

ADVANTAGES:

1.     Reduces cost of power.

2.     Can be used as an UPS.

3.     Nature does not affect it’s operation.

FURTHER ENHANCEMENTS:

An inbuilt gsm based wifi modem can be provided with the tubelight which can run continuously with the power produced in the tubelight.

A security system which detects unkown person and reports immediately to police station. This is useful as power supplied to the security system is unintrupted.
