ABSTRACT The title of my project report is Study and Analysis of Tamrock Machine (Tunnel Boring Machine). I have undergone my six month training in Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. at Kullu (Himachal Pradesh). Since I have been interested in study and analysis of heavy mechanical machines so here I got my best knowledge about machines. My training period is start from 5th June 2013 to 30th November 2013 in Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. I undergone my training under Er. Bhupender Singh. There was a faulted Tamrock machine in mechanical workshop for its maintenance and we have studied and analysed about its parts and working during maintenance. Tamrock machine is a type of tunnel boring machine. It drills the mountains in a short long holes and then explosive magazine installed into holes that crack down the area under attack. This machine is given by Sandvick Company. The engine of this machine is of Mercedes company. This machine consists of a four cylinder engine, four electric motors of 55 walts each ( two for engine and two for water pump), four jacks for stand, rotary

1.4 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:-

The hydel power plant is under construction. This plant is planned for francis turbine. I was in mechanical department. The mech. Dept. consists of mechanical workshop and various mega-machines under working. Basically we had to attend the training at workshop where all machines were repaired as well as serviced. Sometimes we went to sites like powerhouse, dam, penstock, headstock.. etc to see and understand their working.

This project is divided in several units. One of them is Mechanical Workshop.

Mechanical Workshop:- Here all machines are serviced and repaired. This mechanical workshop has a large number of workers and mechanical engineers. Here we can see everything that we have in machines like engines, gear box, clutches, crown wheel etc dissembled. Many other processes are takes place in mechanical workshop. These are as following:-

1) Repairing

2) Service
